A place to start

Not everything that brings people to counselling has a clear name.

You may be struggling with a relationship, questioning your career, finding life abroad harder than expected, feeling overwhelmed, or simply wondering why the same patterns keep repeating.

You don’t need to arrive with a perfectly formulated explanation. We can start with what’s happening and work out the focus together.

How I can help

Different parts of life can affect each other.

01

Work & Career

Career decisions, workplace difficulties, work-related stress, career transitions, professional identity and challenging work relationships.

02

Relationships & Personal Life

Relationships, communication, boundaries, self-esteem, recurring patterns and important personal decisions.

03

Expat Life & Transitions

Adapting to a new country, belonging, identity, loneliness, cultural adjustment, building a life abroad and major life changes.

Why my perspective is different

Psychology informed by real life.

I received my MA degree in Psychology from Eötvös Loránd University in 2010 and have been working in psychological counselling since 2015, alongside my corporate career.

I have spent 19 years working in international corporate environments, primarily in HR and consulting. This has given me a first-hand understanding of the professional pressures, relationships and transitions that can affect people’s wellbeing and personal lives.

I am also an expat myself and have lived in four different countries. I know that building a life somewhere new can affect much more than where you live — it can shape your identity, relationships, career, sense of belonging and idea of home.

My approach

Practical, focused and built around understanding.

We begin by discussing what is happening in your life now, what brought you to counselling and what you would like to understand or change.

I then take a broader look at your personal history and experiences, as understanding where certain patterns, reactions or difficulties may have developed can be an important part of finding a way forward.

Based on this initial understanding, we agree on a focus and a suitable number of sessions. My work is practical and to the point, while also making space to explore the underlying factors that may be contributing to the situation today.

Depending on what is useful for you, I may incorporate elements of cognitive behavioural approaches and mindfulness. I also sometimes suggest exercises between sessions, or recommend books, articles, videos or other materials that can help you continue reflecting and working on things between our conversations.

The aim is not simply to talk about problems, but to help you understand what is happening, develop useful perspectives and make meaningful changes in your everyday life.

A thought to carry with you

Sometimes we spend a long time trying to solve a problem. Then a change in perspective can suddenly change everything – as if we were flipping the switch.

Frequently asked questions

Before we begin.

What happens during the first session?

We discuss what brings you to counselling, what you would like to understand or change, and the situation you are currently facing. I also take a broader look at your personal history to understand the context of what is happening now.

How do we decide how many sessions I need?

Based on our initial discussion and your personal history, I recommend an appropriate number of sessions according to the focus we have identified. We can review this together as we progress.

How often will we meet?

Sessions normally take place once a week. In situations that require more immediate or intensive support, we may agree on a different frequency.

How long is a session?

One counselling session is 50 minutes.

Do you offer online sessions?

Yes. Online counselling is available in addition to sessions in Budapest.

Are in-person sessions available?

In-person sessions in Budapest are available subject to the availability of suitable rooms. We can discuss current availability when arranging your appointment.

Do I need to know exactly what is wrong?

No. You can start with a feeling that something is difficult, stuck or no longer working. We can work out the focus together.

Take the first step

You don’t have to work it all out alone.

If something in your life feels difficult, confusing or simply no longer right, counselling can be a place to start making sense of it.
